Hilary Lister

Hilary Lister's
yacht ARTEMIS and support vessel at the South Quay.Hilary is
aiming to become the first disabled woman to sail solo around
Britain. In a series of day sails beginning from Plymouth on the
21st May 2009. Hilary will sail clockwise along the coasts of
Cornwall, Wales, The East Coast of Ireland, Scotland, The
Caledonian Canal, The East Coast of England and home to the finish
line in Dover. She arrived from Arklow on Tuesday escoted by the
RNLI Lifeboat and a flotilla of Wicklow Sailing Club Yachts, she
left the harbour on Sunday morning at 2-30am for Howth , she is a
remarkable women and it was a honour to meet her , l wish her all
the best and will continue to watch her progress .

The Jubilee Sailing
Trust TENACIOUS at anchor off Wicklow , she was bound for the
Maritime Festival at Dubloin port the next day , l believe the
vessel looked great as she emerged through the mist . TENACIOUS is
one of only two square-rigged tall ships in the world that
have been specifically designed and built to enable people with a
whole range of different physical abilities to sail side-by-side
as equals.The Jubilee Sailing Trust is a registered charity whose
mission is to promote the integration of people of all
physical abilities through the challenge and adventure of sailing tall
ships on the open sea.

Wicklow RNLI inshore lifeboat RNLB SHERINGHAM
SHANTYMEN with 3 volunteer crew races out of Wicklow harbour after
a boat with 2 men was reported to be in difficulties in the
bay , a search of the bay revealed nothing and the lifeboat
was stood down a short time later.

Wicklow Sailing Club 'Open day'

Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat RNLB ANNIE BLAKER on
display during the Sailing Club Open day

The Sailing Club held a Open day over the Bank
Holiday Weekend , Many other organisations that use the harbour
were also present including the Rowing Club , Sub aqua Club , Surf
Rescue and Friends of the Murrough.

It was a good afternoon and looks like it will
be an annual event

101 Maritime Squadron send long hours patroling our coastline each
day as well as providing SAR cover when needed.
