Coaster callers included UNION PEARL , SCOT RANGER and RMS RATINGEN

Traffic in the bay included RACHEL BORCHARD , ARKLOW SPRAY , LE EITHNE , PALANTINE , EMDEN , FLINTERBELT and ENCOUNTER .

The Beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL was in port during the week.

Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat Station held its Annual Service of Remembrance Service on New Years Day in the bay

A drill ship the FUGRO SYNERGY was working North of the Codling during the week, she was visible from elevated parts of the town at night , some people commented to me that they thought the ship was on fire due to her glowing lights ! 

 

Monday 21st  - Sunday 27th December 2009
Wicklow

Coaster callers to the port included the UNION PEARL arriving on Christmas day

A sailor died on St Stephens Night on the UNION PEARL after a tragic accident , sincere condolences to his family.

Traffic in the bay included PALENTINE 

The Coast Guard helicopter was in the area during the week.

Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat launched on Wednesday afternoon after a small fishing vessel got into difficulties.

The beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL spent Christmas in port , the vessel and her skipper are featured on the 6pm RTE television  'Angelus'

 

Monday 14th  - Sunday 20th December 2009
Wicklow

Traffic in the bay included the Ro/Ro ferry PALENTINE and the CIL tender GRANUAILE

Santa arrived on Saturday afternoon onboard the RNLB ANNIE BLAKER for his annual visit to Wicklow lifeboat Station.

Arklow

The trawler PERE CHARLES was finally cut up in Arklow in the last few weeks , the trawler sank a few years ago off Hook head with the loss of her crew , the vessel was recovered from the seabed and taken to Arklow , where she has lay since , local fishermen voiced there objection about the vessel being left on the pier and the delay in taking her away. 

Dun Laoghaire

The old Sealink 'Mail boat' terminal building on the pier has been removed in the last few months. 

 

Monday 7th  - Sunday 13th December 2009
Wicklow

Coaster callers included SCOT EXPLORER

The work vessel CAMERON anchored in the bay during the week.

Filming of 'The Guard' continued around the harbour during the week , various scenes we shot involving a launch at the East pier and running gun battles, by the end of the week all the props were taken from the pier and the actors and film crew moved to the next location.l look forward to seeing the movie next year.

Wicklow lifeboat launched during the week after a fishing vessel called for assistance after a rope fouled her propellor, the lifeboat was stood down after the fishermen managed to free the ropre from the prop.

Visitors to the port included the beamer BRIDGET CARMEL.

 

Monday 30th November  - Sunday 6th December 2009
Wicklow

Coaster callers included LEONA

Traffic in the bay included RED BARONESS , BG FELIXSTOWE , PALATINE and SHETLAND TRADER

Visitors to the port included the beamer BRIDGET CARMEL.

The big news of the week was the arrival of a film company to shoot scenes for a new movie called ' The Guard ' starring Brendan Gleeson , Don Cheadle and Liam Cunningham , the East pier was transformed with lights and various props , huge mobile floodlights situated on the New pier and Packet pier lit the harbour for the night shooting , gun battles were filmed on the East pier during the evening , 

The Coast Guard s61n helicopter was in the area over the weekend , a Canadian Air force Hercules transport aircarft also flew over the bay during the week.

Coast Guard crews were training on the cliff at Travelahawk beach over the weekend.

The dredger WD MEDWAY II anchored in the bay to shelter during the week.

The Hospital ship JUAN DE LA COSA and the survey ship CEFAS ENDEAVOUR were noted off the port during the week

Poole - Dorset

Courtown

The coaster MERLIN was noted at anchor off the harbour during the week.

Visitor's to the port included the beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL

The Irish Navel Patrol vessel LE EMER anchored in the bay overnight during the week.

Traffic included ENCOUNTER , ARKLOW ROGUE , RED DUCHESS , K OCEAN , SOUL SOUND , RED DUCHESS , CORYSTES and VELSERDIJK

Dun Laoghaire

Vessels noted in the port on Saturday included the HSS STENA EXPLORER and Navel Patrol vessel LE ORLA

Dublin Port

Vessels noted in the port on Saturday included the Royal Navy 'Duke' Class destroyer HMS RICHMOND , the cargo vessel ANNE SCAN she was detained by Customs after €50m of contraband cigarettes was found among the animal feed cargo as she discharged at Greenore during the week.The new Custom's cutter RCC FAIRE was alongside the ship.It's believed this is the largest haul by Customs in Europe !

 

Monday 19th - Sunday 25th October 2009
Wicklow

Traffic in the bay included the research vessels CELTIC VOYAGER and CORYSTES , containerships SOUL SOUND , C2C ASTRALIS and SAMSKIP EXPRESS , tankers STELLA VIRGO and PEMBROKE FISHER.

The bulker HARMONY SW anchored off the Coast over the weekend possibly with engine trouble , the Spanish hospital ship JUAN DE LA COSA was also off the Coast during the week,her primary role is to give support to the Spanish fishing fleet.

 
Monday 12th - Sunday 18th October 2009
Wicklow

Coaster callers included SCOT PIONEER and BERTHOLD K ( ex UNION RUBY )

Visitor's to the port included the mussel trawler EMERALD GRATIA and Beamer BRIDGET CARMEL

Traffic in the bay included tankers CORAL MEANDRA and BRO DESIGNER , containership SOUL SOUND and the coaster HELEN .

Research vessel CELTIC VOYAGER was working in the bay during the week off Wicklow head.

Aviation traffic included a Air Corp AW139 and EC135 helicopter southbound over the bay to the funeral of a pilot in Wexford.

Wicklow Sailing Club lift out took place on Saturday morning.

Greystones

Island Shipping tug HUSKY was noted delivering a barge to the new harbour on Tuesday.

Arklow

Arklow's Trent Class lifeboat RNLB GER TIGGELAAR is back on station after a refit

The trawler MATER DEI was also noted on Wednesday.

 

Monday 5th - Sunday 11th October 2009
Wicklow

Coaster callers included MUNGO

Visitors to the port included the Beamer BRIDGET CARMEL and the mussel trawlers EMERALD GRATIA and MARE GRATIA.

Traffic in the bay included the coaster’s RED DUCHESS , ARKLOW RACER , ARKLOW RAIDER , containerships BG FELIXSTOWE ,SOUL SOUND , the tanker THEODORA and the sailing ship CONCORDIA out of Dublin after a weekend visit.

The Coast Guard helicopter was in the area during the week.

Research vessel CELTIC VOYAGER was working in the area.

 

Monday 28th  September - Sunday 4th October 2009
Wicklow

Coaster caller’s included LEONA and SCOT ISLES

Visitors to the port this week included the mussel trawler EMERALD GRATIA and Beamer BRIDGET CARMEL

Traffic in the bay included the Dutch Navel vessel VAN GALEN, Irish Patrol vessel AOIFE, container ships PETJULA , K OCEAN , SOUL SOUND and the Ro/Ro MELUSINE for berthing trials at Dublin.

Helicopter traffic included a Air Corp AW139 and the Coast Guard SAR helicopter.

The research vessel CELTIC VOYAGER was working in the bay during the week.

 

Monday 21st - Sunday 27th September 2009
Wicklow

Coaster caller's included SCOT EXPLORER 

Visitor's to the port included the mussel trawler EMERALD GRATIA and beamer BRIDGET CARMEL . The Galway hooker NAOMH CRONAN arrived from Poolbeg for a visit.

Traffic in the bay included DANA GOTHIA , NORDSTRAND , RED BARONESS , SOUL SOUND , TORRENT , bunker tanker SARA , AUTOSUN , SAMSKIP PIONEER , SEAFRANCE MANET and the research vessels CORYSTES and CEFAS ENDEAVOUR . 

The CIL tender GRANUAILE was working at the Codling , she anchored in the bay during the week , the mussel trawler HIBERNIA was also working in the bay , she anchored overnight on thursday.

Helicopter traffic included the Coast Guard s61n SAR helicopter 'Mike Echo Sierra' now sporting a new livery , a Air Corp AW139 and a EC135.An Air Corp 'CASA' maritime patrol aircraft passed over the bay on Saturday.

Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat Station held its annual Open day on Sunday , there was display's by the Wicklow Fire Service , Ambulance Service , Garda Water Unit , Wicklow Sub Aqua Club and a visit by Air Corp AW139 helicopter '279' , she was kitted out as a air ambulance . At 4pm a rededication Service took place to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the arrival of RNLB ANNIE BLAKER , many former crew joined the present crew for the ceremony, the Open day attracted a large crowd , well done to the crew for a fantastic day !

 
Monday 14th - Sunday 20th September 2009
Wicklow

Coaster caller's included UNION RUBY

Visitor's to the port included the beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL , the mussel trawler EMERALD GRATIA and the converted trawler ORONSAY CLYNDER

Traffic in the bay included the containership's ENDEVOR , PETJULA , EMOTION  ,the tuy OCEAN BANK went south after delivering a barge to Greysones harbour project.The replica ship BOUNTY went south for Cork during the week. A RNLI Severn Class lifeboat went South on Saturday. Other traffic included the liner BLACK PRINCE South out of Dublin , she is being withdrawn from service soon, the end of a era for a classic ship. 

Greystones

The tug OCEAN BANK arrived on Wednesday with a barge , she departed heading South.

Arklow

The relief RNLI Trent Class lifeboat RNLB CORINNE WHITELEY is currently on station.

 

Monday 7th - Sunday 13th September 2009

Wicklow

Traffic in the bay included the tugs ARION and WOLF towing the platform ODIN south to the Arklow Wind farm out of Dublin, the Swedish sailing ship GLADAN southbound under sail , LYSSKOG , SOUL SOUND , VELOX , RMS VOERDE and the Irish research vessel CELTIC VOYAGER southbound.

Visitor’s to the harbour included the German ketch PANTAGRUEL and the mussel trawlers MARE GRATIA , EMERALD GRATIA , MARIA LENA and the Beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL

Arklow

The platform ODIN completed work at the Wind farm,  She was towed by the tugs ARION and WOLF South to Harwich.

 

Monday  31st August - Sunday 6th September  2009
Wicklow Port

Coaster callers included CEG GALAXY and SCOT RANGER

The dredger HEBBLE SAND left the bay on Tuesday for the short run North to Greystones harbour.

Traffic in the bay included the bulker PACIFIC WIND , CEMVALE , RED DUCHESS and the Paddle Steamer WAVERLEY southbound for Weymouth.

The converted trawler ROS AILITHER sailed for Arklow during the week,

Wicklow lifeboat RNLB ANNIE BLAKER launched to assist a fishing vessel in the bay on Wednesday.

Arklow

The platform ODIN was working at the Wind farm, with the 2 tugs ARION and WOLF.

Greystones

The dredger HEBBLE SAND arrived in the port on Tuesday afternoon

 

Monday 18th   -  Sunday 30th August 2009
Wicklow Port

Coaster callers included LEONA

Visitors to the port included BRIDGET CARMEL , mussel trawlers EMERALD GRATIA , MARE GRATIA , RONA , WINGS OF THE MORNING , CELTIC HARVESTER , CORNELIS GERRIT and MARIA LENA . The converted BIM 50 Footer trawler ROS AILITHER  arrived under sail on Saturday afternoon. The tug TRAMONTANE arrived on Tuesday , she was working at the wind farm with 2 other tugs and platform ODIN.

The Dundalk based dredger HEBBLE SAND anchored in the bay on Sunday at lunchtime.

Traffic in the bay included the CIL tender GRANUAILE  , coasters ARKLOW FLAIR , BEN VARREY , tankers LAGAN , HORNISSE , mussel trawler EDENVALE and containerships SOUL SOUND and BG DUBLIN and well as the tugs WOLF and ARION towing the platform ODIN to Dublin.

As part of Heritage week the Tower at Wicklow head was open to the public on Sunday , a large crowd turned out to look inside the tower , an art exhibition by local Marine artists Pat Dover and Tom Long also took place.

Arklow

The platform ODIN is working on the turbines at the Arklow bank windfarm , tugs WOLF and ARION used to position the jack up rig.

Greystones

The tug WESTSUND is working at Greystones on the harbour development.

 

Monday 17th   -  Sunday 23rd August 2009
Wicklow Port

Visitors to the port included the beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL , the sailing vessel IRENE ( I believe she use to trade to the port many years ago ) and the Navel Reserve vessel CREIDNE ,she has undergone major refurbishment in Cork recently including the addition of a new wheelhouse  , in the 1970s she was a regular caller to the port as a interim for the original ASGARD before ASGARD II was built and used for sail training .

The trawler INVESTOR is finished fishing from the port , it's possible she left the harbour this week for pastures new and conversion to a cruiser!

Traffic in the bay included the cargo vessels VELOX , RED DUCHESS , DEPENDANT , K - OCEAN , FINGAL , sailing ship GLADAN northbound for Dublin , the classic liner SAGA RUBY -  she was built as the VISTAFJORD in 1973 by Swan Hunter , for Norwegian America Line , l remember going to Wicklow Head to see her in the mid 70s after identifying her from the profile in the Observer's book of Ships , a Christmas present from my Granny. In1983 she was sold to CUNARD and retained her orginal name until 1999 when she was renamed CARONIA . In 2004 she was sold to her current owners . Another liner the 1955 built PRINCESS DAPHNE went South out of Dublin for Falmouth on Saturday afternoon . The tugs ARION and WOLF towing the platform ODIN to Dublin port , there are currently working at the Arklow Windfarm. A RNLI lifeboat went north in the mist on Sunday afternoon.

Arklow

The sailing ships KATHLEEN & MAY and IRENE arrived in Arklow for a visit on Tueday , the vessels attracted many visitors. 

The relief RNLI Trent Class lifeboat RNLB CORINNE WHITELEY is currently on station.The Mussel trawler CECILIA was on the Slip .

Arklow's Maritime Museum has relocated to the Bridgewater Shopping Centre , the offical open was to take place on Friday night.

The Jack up platform ODIN is currently working on the turbines at the wind farm off the port , the tugs ARION and WOLF are working with the platform.

Greystones

The Danish tug WESTSUND arrived during the weekend with a barge to work on the harbour construction. The harbour is now starting to take shape.

Wicklow Port

Coaster callers included  SCOT RANGER

Traffic in the bay included ENCOUNTER ,ANDROMEDA J , tankers PEMBROKE FISHER ,FRANK , BRO DESIGNER , coasters TORRENT , RMS VOERDE , SOUL SOUND , CEMVALE and trawler EBLANA.

The Coast Guard S61 SAR helicopter was in the area during the week

Visitors to the port included the beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL

The RNLI Inshore lifeboat was launched on Sunday afternoon to rescue 2 dogs trapped in caves South of the Black Castle.

 
Monday 3rd   -  Sunday 10th August 2009
Wicklow Port

Coaster callers included SCOT CARRIER and SCOT RANGER

Traffic in the bay included K OCEAN , SAMSKIP EXPRESS and EMOTION.

Wicklow Rowing Club held its Annual Regatta on the Bank holiday Monday , the skiffs were paraded through the town that morning lead by the Pipe Band and Wicklow inshore lifeboat. The RNLI carried out a display on the same afternoon in between races , it included a capsize demonstration and a winch excercise with Coast Guard s61n helicopter 'Mike Echo'. Wicklow Sailing Club hosted its Regatta over the weekend , yachts were racing in the bay. On Monday a short ceremony took place to bless all the boats at 4pm near the Rowing Club.

Well done to the crew of tug HUSKY. Nick and the crew dressed the vessel for the Blessing of the boats on Monday afternoon , thanks also to the crew of the Yacht BILBO for dressing their yacht for the occassion , thanks to the few other yachts for making the effort and the converted trawler LILY L , the Stars and Stripes brighted up the harbour,  well done also to Brendan and all at Wicklow Lifeboat Station for dressing RNLB ANNIE BLAKER , 

Visitors to the port included the converted Dutch trawler LILY L , the German sailing vessel LOVIS , she certainly left her mark as local artist Pat Davis has added her to the East pier wall , and the Navel Reserve (Slua Muiri) yacht CREIDNE ,she was a regular visitor to Wicklow in the 1970s and early 1980s as a Sail training vessel before ASGARD II was built, and the Beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL.

Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat RNLB ANNIE BLAKER was launched on Saturday evening , after a flare was sighted off Kiloughter . Nothing was found after a search of the area , the lifeboat was stood down.

The excellant BBC 2 series COAST was broadcast on Tuesday evening , presenter Neil Oliver visited the 3 lighthouses at Wicklow Head on a Tour of the Coast from Cork to Dublin.

Aviation traffic included a Air Corp Pilatus PC-9 aircraft a Pitts S-1E and Eddie Goggins? in a Extra 300 practicing over the bay on Saturday ... brilliant !

New Ross

Vessels noted in port included the replica Sailing ship DUNBRODY and the coaster BLUE DAY.

Waterford

A large tug and a Dredger were noted at the Frank Cassin berth on Thursday  ,they were gone by Saturday afternoon.

Cobh

A great location to watch ships especially from the bar in the Commodore Hotel, among many vessels noted included the ARKLOW FORTUNE ,  SWAMI , CLARA K ,K OCEAN , liner AIDA CARA , tankers GALWAY FISHER , FORTH FISHER , SIGAS COMMANDER , navel vessels LE NIAMH , LE ROISIN , LE CIARA , LE EMER and LE AOIFE , and the pilot vessel SONIA.

KINSALE

Vessels noted in the picturesque harbour inclued the custom's cutter SUIRBHEIR

 

Monday 27th  July -  Sunday 2nd August 2009
Wicklow Port

Coaster callers included UNION SATURN

Visitors to the port included the trawler's BRIDGET CARMEL , CHLOE B , JOHNNY K and SALTEES TERN

Greystones Rowing Club held its Annual Regatta on Saturday afternoon , it was held in Wicklow as Greystones is closed while the new harbour is under construction.

A English flagged converted trawler  LILY L tied up at the East pier , she still retains her Dutch fishing number , all week yachts from Ireland and various European Countries visited the harbour , junior members of Wicklow Sailing Club were out sailing in the harbour during the week , at one stage they were singing the chorus of the 'Fields of Athenry' as the sailed around the harbour. The Swimming Club held various swims during the week , on Sunday the Open Swim took place , a Maritime Walk took place on Thursday evening , over fifty people turned up to hear local maritime historians Andrew O Brien and Jimmy Cleary talk about the towns marine history , On Sunday night the harbour was lit as the Regatta fireworks took place , the display was very good ,especially the fireworks that erupted from the sea , the mood was set earlier as the local pipe band played on the Castle and the music flowed across the harbour.

Wicklow RNLI ALB lifeboat RNLB ANNIE BLAKER launched on Saturday afternoon to aid a yacht with steering problems 2 miles North of the harbour while out on the streets members of the fundraising branch were collecting for the Annual flag collection

The coaster VASILIV MALOV anchored in the bay on Sunday , she sailed later that evening resuming her passage South.

Monday 29th June - Sunday 5th July  2009
Wicklow Port

Coaster callers included ANKE ANGELA and ALADIN.

Traffic in the bay included SOUL SOUND , GRANUAILE , tug BREEDBANK and the small coaster MONSUNEN .

A unusual visitor to the harbour on Tuesday night was a Basking Shark , it arrived just as a harbour swim was about to start ! the story was picked up by the national media and appeared in various newspapers.

Wicklow RNLI all weather lifeboat launched during the week to assist a fishing vessel with a rope foulled in her propellor. Clogherhead lifeboat RNLB DORIS BLEASDALE arrived on Saturday evening for a night stopover, the Mersey Class vessel was on passage from Holyhead after a overhaul back to the County Louth Station.

The Beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL arrived during the week , after being drydocked at Howth , she looked well after a new coat of paint.

Aviation traffic included the Coast Guard s61 helicopter 'Mike Echo' and a Robinson R44.

Wicklow Rowing Club skiffs were out training for the East Coast Regatta's , the club will host its Regatta on the August Bank holiday Monday.

On Saturday afternoon there was various yacht racces in the bay , the Raft was refloated and anchored off the New Pier for the swimmers.

The Annual Wicklow Regatta will start on Friday 24th July to Monday 4th August , amoung the maritime related events taking place will be the Skiff races , lifeboat and helicopter display , golly fishing ,yacht racing and a maritime historical walk , more details will be posted in the coming weeks.

According to local Press reports the local Council are looking for planning permission to relocate the GAA Club out to a location South of Wicklow head , already opposition to the location of the facility has begun and a group has voiced it's concern regarding this unspoilt part of the Coast.Realistically there must be a better location than this , anyone including myself who walks out to Wicklow Head during the winter months knows what the weather conditions are like in the area , hopefully common sense will prevail and a more suitable location will be found closer to the town.Watch this space ..

The local Council have opened a Heritage trail around the town , plaques have been placed at the capstan near the strand and at the anchors on the Castle giving historical details ..

According to local Press reports the local Council are looking for planning permission to relocate the GAA Club out to a location South of Wicklow head , already opposition to the location of the facility has begun and a group has voiced it's concern regarding this unspoilt part of the Coast.Realistically there must be a better location than this , anyone including myself who walks out to Wicklow Head during the winter months knows what the weather conditions are like in the area , hopefully common sense will prevail and a more suitable location will be found closer to the town.Watch this space ..

Helicopter traffic included a Air Corp AW139 and a Robinson R44 , on Saturday afternoon a helicopter passed over Wicklow bay heading East across the Irish sea,it looked like one of the 2 US Army 'Pavehawk' helicopters that had airlifted a sick crewman from a ship 400 miles off the West Coast on Friday ,the helicopters were refuelled by a Hercules Aircraft in the air allowing them to fly further out to sea. On Sunday afternoon another helicopter possibly a S-76 the civil variant of the Blackhawk or a AW139 transited East over Wiclow bay heading towards Wales. Other aviation traffic included the Air Corp 'CASA' 253 maritime patrol aircraft flying north along the Wicklow Coast.

Wicklow RNLI all weather lifeboat launched during the week to assist a fishing vessel with mechanical problems in the bay.

Hilary Lister arrived from Arklow on Tuesday afternoon on passage on her Round Britain Dream, Hilary is aiming to become the 1st disabled woman to sail solo around Britain. In a series of day sails beginning from Plymouth on the 21st May 2009. Hilary will sail clockwise along the coasts of Cornwall, Wales, The East Coast of Ireland, Scotland, The Caledonian Canal, The East Coast of England and home to the finish line in Dover. Traffic in the bay included the STV TENACIOUS , liner BLACK PRINCE , RMS SOONSBECK , GRANUAILE and yachts taking part in the bi annual Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Race.

Wicklow Lifeboats were launched on Sunday morning , it turned out to be a false alarm.

Coaster callers included LEONA

The Russian coaster BALTIYSKIV anchored in the bay during the week for most of Wecdnesday, she sailed later that night resuming her passage South.

Traffic in the bay included SCOT PIONEER , ENDURANCE , the liners BLACK WATCH and NORWEIGAN JADE , the sailing ship EENDRACHT , and the former ferry LOGOS HOPE (ex Norrona) 

The sailing ship TENACIOUS anchored in the bay over the weekend , she was bound for the Dublin Docks Festival.

Helicopter traffic included the Coast Guard SAR helicopter and a Air Corp EC135

Island Marines tug HUSKY arrived back from Dublin during the week.

Galway

The City hosted the stop over of the Volvo Round the World Yacht Race, on Saturday the RAF Red Arrow's put on a display before a race involving all the Maxi's took place in Galway bay , vessels noted included the Irish Navel ships LE AISLING and LE ROISIN as well as the chartered tug HOLLAND . Brilliant sunshine added to the festival.

Coaster callers included UNION MARS , SCOT EXPLORER and LEONA.

Traffic sightings included SOUL SOUND and ELM

Visitors to the port included the beam trawlers BRIDGET CARMEL and MARY KATE.

Aviation traffic over the bay included the Coast Guard SAR helicopter.

The BIM research vessel T.BURKE was also working out of the harbour during the week.

Civil Defence ribs were on excercise around the harbour and bay during the weekend.

Arklow

The relief RNLI lifeboat RNLB DORA FOSTER MCDOUGALL was on station , the research vessel KEARY left the port during the week.

Visitor's to the port included the beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL and MARY KATE

Wicklow RNLI inshore lifeboat launched on Monday night to search the bay after a boat with 2 people was reported to be in trouble , a search revealed nothing and the lifeboat was stood down.

Traffic in the bay included RT MAGIC with the new linkspan for Dublin ,SCOT RANGER , CEMBAY , DANA GOTHIA , COASTAL WAVE , EMERALD GRATIA , the liner AMEDEA and the RNLI Trent Class lifeboat RNLB DORA FOSTER MCDOUGALL.

Arklow

Vessels noted in the port during the week included WIND CAT II , the English cruiser ALIDA , mussel trawlers EMERALD GRATIA and MARIA LENA , the beam trawler's CHLOE B and SALTEES TERN , and the RNLI Trent Class lifeboat RNLB DORA FOSTER MCDOUGALL.

Mussel trawlers were working in the area during the week , EX MARE GRATIA , RONA and WINGS OF THE MORNING moored overnight at the North pier.

Traffic in the bay included GRANUAILE , KEARY , JONSEN , RMS BAERL , WYBELSUM , ENCOUNTER , SAMSKIP EXPRESS , CORYTES and SCOT RANGER.

The BIM research vessel T. BURKE tied up at the South Quay on Friday afternoon.

Arklow

The Research vessel KEARY was noted on the Quay on Tuesday .

Aviation traffic included a Air Corp PC-9 and 'CASA' Maritime Patrol aircraft , and the Coast Guard s61 rescue helicopter

Visitors to the port included the mussel trawlers EMERALD GRATIA , RONA , EXMARE GRATIA , MYTILUS and the beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL . WINGS OF THE MORNING anchored in the bay. The mussel trawlers were working in the area over the weekend.

Wicklow Sailing Club held a open day on Sunday , various clubs that use the harbour also had displays at the sailing club , they included the rowing club , sub aqua club and angling club .

Traffic in the bay included LE AOIFE , STENA SEALYNX III and the coaster MERIT , she brought prefrabricated steel for the new Landsdowne Stadium from Italy to Dublin.

Visitor's to the port included the mussel trawler MYTILLUS , she tied up overnight at the East pier.

Traffic in the bay included RED DUCHESS and the French schooner  ETOILLE DE FRANCE returning home after delivering wine to Dublin.Dense fog hampered any ship sightings later in the week !

CIL tender GRANUAILE anchored in the bay during the week .

Island Shipping's tug HUSKY left the harbour early in the week for the short run south to Arklow.

The St Patrick's day Parade in Wicklow on Tuesday had a good maritime presence with the RNLI Lifeboat crew , Wicklow Sailing Club and Wicklow Rowing club taking part. 

Aviation traffic included a Air Corp 172 aircraft northbound over Wicklow bay.

New Ross

Vessels noted in the port included the coasters ALLEGRETTO and FINGAL , as well as the Tall Ship DUNBRODY.

Waterford

Vessels alongside the Belview port included DANA HOLLANDIA and ARKLOW ROSE , 2 small tugs were tied up at the City marina , and dredgers and various other work vessels were noted up river opposite the Railway Station.

Traffic in the bay included LYSSKOG , CITY OF ROME , STENA SEALYNX III , GRANUAILE , AASLI and the tug FORTH HUNTER with a dredger in tow.A French schooner aslo went north under sail for Dublin with a cargo of French wine !

Wicklow inshore lifeboat launched to a incident at the Black Castle on Sunday evening , Wicklow fire Service and the Coastguard were called to the Castle as well , a person was brought to safety from the top of the Black Castle,and the emergancy services were stood down.

Aviation traffic included a Robinson R44 helicopter.

The beam trawler BRIDGET CARMEL called to the port during the week.

CIL tender GRANUAILE arrived off the harbour on Saturday to pick up technican's to work on the CODLING LANBY.

Visitors to the port included the Larne RNLI Trent Class lifeboat RNLB DR JOHN McSPARRAN ,she was on passage to Ballyhack for overhaul.

Island Shippings tug HUSKY arrived back in the port , she left the port in August last year to work on the Limerick tunnel project.

Vistiors to the port included the beam trawlers MARY KATE and BRIDGET CARMEL.

Arklow

The coaster MAGNOLIA 1 was noted at anchor off the port on Saturday afternoon.

Dublin Port

Vessels noted in the port on Sunday included DUBLIN VIKING , JONATHAN SWIFT , CLIPPER RANGER , CELTIC STAR , COASTAL DENIZ and MANOLIS P. The CEMBAY was at anchor in Dublin bay.

Coaster callers included SCOT MARINER

The CIL tender GRANUAILE arrived in the bay to pick up a technican to work on the buoy's offshore.

The beam trawlers MARY KATE and BRIDGET CARMEL are working out of the port.

Traffic in the bay included a P22 Type Navel vessel , the auto carrier AUTOTRANSPORTER and the coaster JONSEN southbound.

The Wicklow RNLI lifeboat RNLB ANNIE BLAKER launched shortly after 1105am on Saturday morning to go to the aid of a small fishing vessel with mechanical problems 14 miles off the Wicklow Coast , the lifeboat towed the fishing vessel with 3 crew safely into port.

Rescue 116 the Coast Guard helicopter airlifted a injured woman from Brittas bay on Saturday afternoon to a Dublin hospital.

The Manx coaster BEN VARREY sheltered in the bay over the weekend , as strong winds cross the country, she was joined by a containership on Saturday afternoon.
