Photo's taken with a camera phone 18/05/08 Celtic Challenge 2008 The Celtic Challenge is said to be the Worlds Longest true rowing race where teams race from Arklow in County Wicklow, Ireland to Aberystwyth on the Welsh coast, a distance of about 90 nautical miles. The photo shows the ladies Race starting escorted by a flotilla of support craft , the Arklow ladies went on to cross the finish line first the next morning , and then the mens crew from Arklow won their race. The next Race will take place in 2010 Well done to George and all the Arklow crews 04/05/08 Wednesday 30th April Courtown , County Wexford

The CAOMHAOIR 1 on the Quay at Newport , would anyone have any details of this former British military vessel Identical to a vessel based at Wicklow for many years called 'Wicklow Research' operated by Neil Watson for winch training with Air Corp SAR Dauphin and Alouette 111 helicopters. l have also seen a similar vessel in Howth.

Resurfacing of the Pier began earlier this month , and will continue ontil mid June , at the moment the upper level is closed to the public.When the 2 millon euro project is finished the Band Stand and Shelter will be placed back on the pier.
